VME eyes $150m in new orders

US-based VME Process is aiming to secure $150 million worth of new orders next year.

VME is eyeing contracts from several floating production, storage offloading projects in Southeast Asia, including Kangean Energy’s Terang Sirasun Batur off Indonesia, Petronas Carigali’s Bukit Tua off Malaysia and Hoang Long JOC’s Te Giac Trang off Vietnam.

The oil and gas process system supplier will be firming up a partnership with seasoned fabricators in Brazil over the next few weeks to bid for Petrobras’ FPSO projects, Chief Executive Michael Thomas said yesterday at the company’s Batam facility.

The move will allow VME to meet Petrobras’ requirement for the FPSO projects. The Brazilian national oil company is said to be looking at constructing all topside modules locally in order to achieve a 65% local content.

VME’s outstanding order book now stands at $50 million for deliveries lined up to the first quarter 2010. Construction is under way on modules for two Modec’s FPSOs due for Jubilee field off Ghana and Petrobras’ Tupi field in Brazil and a Bumi Armada FPSO destined for Eni’s Oyo field off Nigeria.

Majority of the fabrication work is undertaken at VME’s Batam yard. The 178,000-square foot facility is equipped to deliver 10 to 15 FPSO modules a year and is now operating at 60% capacity.
